Annapurna Circuit This is probably the most popular trek in Nepal for hard core trekkers. The trek starts from Besisahar. This is followed northwest through beautiful and rapidly changing scenery to the upper Manang Valley, a Buddhist region inhabited by traders and pastoralists of Tibetan stock. Here there are fantastic views of the Annapurna Peaks. It takes two days to cross the snow covered Thorong La Pass (5380 m) to the pilgrimage centre of Muktinath. Then follow the Kali Gandaki River south to Tatopani, passing through the deepest gorge in the world flanked by Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. Head Southeast along the southern edge of the Annapurna range to Pokhara before returning to Kathmandu.
